PEOPLE MAKE THEATER

At Stages, people are the center of our identity. There is no Stages without a gathered community.

There is no live performance without people. People who write, people who build, people who act; in one room, together—People Make Theater. We adopted this phrase because in three simple words it sums up the core belief that inspires us. Every person in our community has a story. When you support Stages, you help bring those stories to life – on and off the stage. So we want to introduce you to just a few of the many, many people who make our theater. We’re so very glad you’re one of them!

I love and appreciate that Stages supports such an incredibly diverse pool of local artists. By breathing life into work of local artists from such different and rich communities, Stages truly embodies a theater that reflects our people and honors to the heartbeat of Houston.”

MAI LÊ Stage and Voice Actor

Stages represents our community— it provides a welcoming space to showcase the best of what being a Houstonian means. I love watching the theater grow through community influence and outreach. I believe the earnest and intentional efforts to promote diverse art will make Stages one of the most dynamic theaters in the city.

Few spaces like Stages exist. Stages is a space of “firsts”— a space that holds wonder and energy and care and wraps their artists in this. They invest in local artists to bring audiences the best theater in Houston. Stages isn’t afraid to take uncomfortable risks on unknown projects — they see goodness and they want to give it a platform.
