Come from Away soars at Stages

The story of the Canadians who took in stranded Americans in the wake of 9/11 continues to restore one's faith in humanity September 26, 2026

Houston Chronicle

When 7,000 flight passengers from all parts of the world were stranded in Gander, Newfoundland during the chaos that followed the devastation of 9/11, the kind and generous citizens went to work and welcomed these bewildered travelers into their lives and homes. You might have seen a larger scale big production of the musical “Come from Away” at the Hobby Center, but the production running at Stages through Oct.18 is a more intimate musical experience as the audience surrounds a smaller stage from three sides, and the live band sits atop the stage for the riveting songs that carry the story along.
