Announcing the Cast of Tiny Beautiful Things

Stages embraces compassion and connection with "Tiny Beautiful Things," Running from March 27 to April 19, 2026

HOUSTON (February 9, 2026) – Stages continues its 2025—26 season with Tiny Beautiful Things, adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) from the best-selling book by Cheryl Strayed. Running from March 27 to April 19, 2026, on the Rochelle and Max Levit Stage at The Gordy, this intimate production celebrates the power of storytelling, compassion and shared humanity.

At the heart of Tiny Beautiful Things is “Sugar”, an anonymous advice columnist who responds to letters from people searching for guidance during some of life’s most difficult moments. On stage, those letter-writers are embodied by three actors, transforming private struggles into collective catharsis. The letters come to life as they give voice to those seeking advice on everything from love and loss to grief and joy, weaving moments of humor, honesty and heartbreak throughout the performance.

“This play gives real weight and presence to voices that are often shared quietly or privately,” said Derek Charles Livingston, Artistic Director at Stages. “As the letters come to life onstage, actors’ fierce performances give voice to questions of vulnerability, rage, forgiveness and longing, creating an experience that feels both deeply personal and profoundly shared.”

Performed on the intimate Rochelle and Max Levit Stage, Tiny Beautiful Things places audiences just feet away from the stories being shared, creating a sense of closeness that mirrors the honesty of the letters themselves. Sugar’s anonymity keeps the focus on listening rather than answers, turning the theater into a space of collective reflection.

The production stars Callina Anderson as Sugar, joined by Gabriel Regojo, Sarah Sachi and Ricardo Enrique as the letter writers whose stories come to life onstage. Together, the ensemble embodies a range of voices and experiences, shifting seamlessly between roles to create a shared emotional landscape. Audiences are invited to stay for a Sunday Sit Down on March 29, following the 2 p.m. matinee, for a free, behind-the-scenes conversation with the cast exploring the play’s themes and creative process.
