Stages celebrates the range of Latinx voices and stories reflecting the diversity of local Texas communities.

The third annual Sin Muros Festival features the bilingual, Cinderella-themed Theater for Young Audiences play Cenicienta, alongside developmental workshop readings of new plays by Texas playwrights Adrienne Dawes, Franky D. Gonzalez, and Frida Espinosa-Muller.

Join us on this festival weekend filled with public events for audiences and local theater-makers, including workshops and networking opportunities.

Choosing Houston: the opportunities, challenges and future needs for making an artistic home in Houston

Please join a multi-disciplinary panel of leading Latinx artists in conversation about living and working in Houston. Despite Houston's size and strong economy, artists regularly leave for opportunities in other cities that are better known for their creative communities. In this discussion we will hear from artists and creatives from a variety of disciplines who have chosen Houston as the place to build their artistic career. We will discuss the benefits and challenges of making an artistic home in Houston, and steps we can collectively take to make our city a better place for artists.

Poetry Tent
The Sin Muros Poetry Tent hosted by the Latinx Literary Organization Tintero Projects will feature a variety of local literary organizations, performance poetry teams, publishing houses and book sellers. At the tent you can expect to find Inprint poetry buskers who will write poems "on demand" in English or Spanish, the oldest Latino literary publisher in the country Arte Publico Press selling books in fiction, poetry and memoir, Writers in the Schools with make and take creative writing activities for teens and young adults and live poetry readings by local poets from various slam teams and performance groups including Barrio Writers, Fuente Co. and many others.

Building Stories: Constructing Your New Play

How do you build a new play? In this generative workshop, playwright Adrienne Dawes will lead exercises to help writers of all levels to build new stories for the stage or to expand their current works-in-progress.

Theater Teacher Professional Development Day
Friday, February 14, 8:00am - 4:00pm
Stages Repertory Theater and the Sin Muros Latinx Theater Festival invite Houston area middle and high school theater teachers to participate in the Sin Muros Professional Development Day. This one-day interactive professional day will provide teachers with a hands-on focused arsenal of tools to develop their Latinx theater pedagogy skills and create culturally-responsive curriculum. In addition to a performance of Cenicienta, the day will include performances by artists participating in the Sin Muros Festival, discussions, and performance workshops. Attendance is FREE, but advanced registration is required. The deadline to register is Friday, February 7, 2020. Lunch will be provided and attendees will receive a certificate for their 8 hours of PD.
