At the Gordy

What time do doors open for performances?

Lobby doors open 60 minutes before the start of a performance, and theater doors open 30 minutes before the beginning of the show. We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the performance starts. Due to the intimate nature of our spaces, for most performances, late seating is not possible.

What if I arrive late?

Out of consideration for other patrons and the performers, we regret that we are rarely able to seat ticket holders after the performance has begun. Due to the intimate size and arrangement of our theater spaces, there’s just no such thing as an unobtrusive entrance! Unclaimed seats will be released at show time and may be used to seat other patrons.

What do you serve at the bar?

Wine, beer, cocktails, mocktails, soda, water, and snacks are available in our lobby before the performance and during intermission. Drinks may be pre-ordered for intermission by scanning the QR code in your program.

What is your policy for food and drinks?

Food and drinks purchased through the Gordy Bar are allowed in all our theaters! Make sure to grab your favorite beverage from the Gordy Bar before the show and during intermission. No outside food or drinks are allowed.

Where are the restrooms located?

Restrooms are located on both floors of The Gordy. On the first floor, restrooms are located past the bar to the left of the Levit Stage. On the second floor, restrooms are located to the left and just past the stairs. Both floors have all-user, wheelchair-accessible restrooms.

What should I wear when attending a Stages performance?

We want your performance experience to be as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. You will see patrons in formal attire, business casual, and everything in between.

May I photograph or record the performance?

We do not permit cameras, audio, or recording devices during performances. Photography, cameras, or any audio or visual recordings of performances are strictly prohibited.

Are there any pre- or post-performance activities at Stages?

Yes! We have lobby displays for many of our performances and invite patrons to come early to learn more about the show before seeing it live. Sunday Sit Downs are hosted following the first Sunday performance for each production. Join us for a lively conversation with the production’s designers, cast, and director, offering a behind-the-scenes look at bringing this epic story to life. Each production is unique and may offer additional discussions or activities; check out the website to find out more.

Can I bring my child?

Stages welcomes young theatergoers and offers select productions each year designed for younger audiences. Recommended age ranges and content notifications are listed on each performance page.

For all other performances, children must be at least 5 years old, have their own ticketed seat, and be able to sit quietly for the duration of the performance. Children must be accompanied by an adult. If a child becomes restless, ushers may ask the adult and child to step into the lobby to avoid disrupting other guests.

Can I smoke before the show or at intermission?

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the Gordy campus including in the parking garage, patios, or lawn.

  • Stages cannot replace your tickets if they are lost or stolen.
  • Stages cannot exchange tickets bought through a broker into other performances.
  • Stages cannot issue refunds to you in the event of a cancellation.
  • Stages cannot guarantee that your tickets are valid and, therefore, cannot guarantee admittance.
  • You may be paying much more than the ticket’s face value.
  • Stages cannot contact you with information regarding time changes, show cancellations, or other information.

Accessibility

What do I do if I need wheelchair seating or have other accessibility requests?

All our theater spaces include designated areas of enhanced accessibility for wheelchairs along with companion seats. Please reserve your tickets in advance by calling our Patron Services team at 713.527.0123 and requesting wheelchair accommodations. For your convenience, please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your show’s scheduled start time. Some of our spaces require steps with handrails to reach your seat.

Do you have hearing assistance devices, and how do I access them?

Assisted listening devices are available upon request and free of charge. Please ask for one at the box office, located on the right side of the Herzstein Lobby upon entering, when you pick up your tickets.

What other accessibility options are available?

Stages offers specific dates for most performances that are sensory-inclusive and ASL-interpreted. Our sensory-inclusive performances cater to our patrons with sensitivity to loud, abruptly changing sound, light, or video elements associated with live performance. Our ASL-interpreted performances offer priority seating with the best view of the interpreters and are available to members of the Deaf and ASL community for $25.
