Overview

This Tony Award-winning tale proves the power of love transcends all else

“What a delight it is to enter the world of Once On This Island.” –The New York Times

Sweeping, soulful, and radiating with hope, this beloved musical, which won the 2018 Tony Award for “Best Musical Revival,” has captivated audiences the world over. Set on a vibrant Caribbean island alive with music, movement, and magic, this folktale is loosely inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s Little Mermaid and based on Rose Guy’s My Love, My Love. After her village is destroyed by a fierce hurricane, fearless young peasant girl Ti Moune is rescued by playful island gods. When she falls in love with a wealthy boy from the other side of her island, she is swept on a journey of love, adventure, and self discovery. With soaring music an breathtaking dance, Ti Moune’s journey is a testament to determination and optimism.
